I think it's better that way since I'm not after sex in Second Life, so treating everyone as one of the guys would be more comfortable for me besides I've had experienced in other games where female avatars whom I've become friends with confess that they are men and just use the female look to take advantage of other unsuspecting male players.

If you treat and view them as one of the guys then later confess that they are indeed guys then no disappointments and if you find out they are actually women then much better.

Face value in a virtual world really has little value because it can be easily altered.

Like what I've said if they are comfortable with playing as the other gender and it makes them happy then let them. I have no problems with that.

To be safe, instead of treating them as men I'll treat them as people without reference to gender, race, affiliation, nationality or religion. I think that's fair enough! ;)

Actually SL has a massive population of female gamers. In general there are more female gamers than people realize and specifically there are more women working in the game design industry than people realize. If you treat all female avatars as if they are being piloted by a man then you are setting yourself up for disapointment. Unless your only purpose for interacting with a female avatar is to pursue cyber sex? In which case you portray yourself as painfully shallow. Why not take people at face value and not worry about it. Trust me, you will enjoy the experience much more.
