What is Camping in Second Life?

Today, while asking some residents on how to make money in Second Life, I found out about camping. I was told that it was the easiest way for newbies like me to make money or linden dollars in Second Life. So, I went and searched for places that offers camping. Unfortunately, the places I went to where all full.

About the question, what is camping in Second Life? As I understand it from how other residents explained it to me and of course on how I observed it. Camping in Second Life is staying in particular land or parcel long enough to increase its traffic. In Second Life, land traffic is measured on how long residents stayed on your land and not on the number of residents visiting your land in particular period of time. Because of these, land owners place what they call camping objects or devices on their lands. These camping objects pay residents a certain amount of money for sitting on or using it for a predetermined period of time which are called camping rates. Camping rates varies from place to place but the most common rates I saw were 1/10 (1L$ per 10 minutes) and 2/10. I was told that there are even higher rates than the first 2 I mentioned but I still have to find them. Also, there are different camping objects but the most common ones are camping dance pads.

For the meantime, I’ll be doing some camping to get me started in my Second Life but if someone would like to donate some money to me then that would be much better and will be greatly appreciated.
